I lead when work crosses teams, contractors, and regulation.

Operations, contracts, procurement, suppliers, and change. Six years of that was airport leadership at Sonoma County Airport. I am available now, from Cyprus, on Eastern European time.

Work

Four pieces of work, with the part I actually held

01 · Sonoma County Airport · construction

Terminal modernization, while flights continued

A terminal project of about $40 million changed passenger routes and contractor access in phases, including during COVID. My job was operational and security coordination. I did not manage the construction budget or the build.

Commercial flights kept operating. The modernized terminal opened in 2022.

Read the account of the terminal work

The situation

Construction moved passenger routes, work areas, and contractor access while the airport was still running commercial flights. COVID added another set of daily constraints.

What I was responsible for

I connected airport staff, contractors, and the security rules. The project outcome is shared. My part was the coordination below.

  • Coordinated passenger routes and contractor access as the phases changed.
  • Worked with staff, contractors, airlines, and TSA on holdroom access and passenger flow.
  • Adjusted daily arrangements for safety and COVID conditions.
  • Prepared Airport Security Program amendments and changed-conditions documents for TSA review, including diagrams.
  • Oversaw contractor badging and access training.

What came of it

Flights continued through the work. The terminal opened in 2022. The dollar figure is the size of the project I supported.

AirBadge, and digital Part 139 inspections

Two places where a paper process had to keep moving between the person in the field, the person who fixes it, and the regulator. I translated how the airport actually worked. I did not build AirBadge, and I do not treat the audit timing as an official measurement.

By my estimate, a full badge audit went from about six months to about 1.5–2 months. At Sonoma, inspection findings on App 139 were tied to photos, locations, and work orders. That system was still in use when I left.

AirBadge, 2019–2023

A badge audit at Sonoma could take around six months. Staff tracked replies in spreadsheets. A simple question, such as who still owed a response, took work to answer. COVID made remote access more important.

I was the airport’s primary operational contact. I explained the audit to the founder, where follow-up broke down, and what TSA needed on file. I worked on that from 2019 to 2023.

  • Turned Part 1542 badging practice into workflow requirements for the developer.
  • Helped shape how the airport sent questions, tracked replies, and followed up.
  • Coordinated the audit method with TSA inside the Airport Security Program.
  • Helped staff and badge holders move to online steps, including mobile access and training.

By my estimate, a full audit then took about 1.5–2 months, and the team could see outstanding replies in one place. TSA approved that audit method within the Airport Security Program. The timing is my estimate, not an independent measurement. The May 2020 county minutes show the AirBadge work. They do not establish how long audits took before or after.

Digital inspections

At Fresno Yosemite International, from 2016 to 2017, I adapted the city’s Corrigo system so Part 139 inspection evidence matched what the FAA inspector needed.

At Sonoma, in 2017–2018, paper findings did not tell maintenance exactly where a problem was, what it looked like, or whether someone had already taken it. I compared systems for fit, usability, airport size, and cost, then led the rollout with the Operations Supervisor.

  • Configured App 139 inspection forms and the work-order path.
  • Put iPads with staff so a finding could carry a photo and a location.
  • Trained staff with the Operations Supervisor and set the procedure.
  • Walked the FAA inspector through the reporting change.

Maintenance could see the work order and its status. The system was still in use when I left in 2023.

03 · Embry-Riddle · September 2024–April 2025

Supplier agreements, and a first hotel expo

Contracts across university campuses needed a renewal decision, not another unread file. Students and families also needed a straightforward way to see local hotel rates.

I tracked 500+ agreements and organized the university’s first hotel expo. Roughly 25 hotels came to campus.

Read the account of the supplier agreements

What I did

  • Contacted contract owners about expiring and expired agreements, clarified whether they would renew or lapse, and updated Workday.
  • Read the language and the dates, and looked at renewal, bidding, and consortium options so owners could reach negotiated rates.
  • Organized the first hotel expo and brought roughly 25 local hotels to campus for students and families.

What I took from it

A purchasing record is only useful if the person who depends on the service can still get a decision.

04 · Independent · April–October 2026 · paused

TarmacSync

My own project, not client work. Airport purchases can take a different path depending on local policy and where the money comes from. I turned that into rules and a usable prototype, then paused it before any customer launch.

There are no clients and no customer results. I demonstrated the prototype to peers. Development is paused.

Read the account of TarmacSync

What I did

  • Defined the buying-path rules and built the first usable version myself.
  • Directed a contract developer for about two months on regulatory-document retrieval, agent workflows, login, and security.
  • Built the site and tested custom skills across models. Tools included Claude Code, Codex, and VS Code.

What it is not

It is not a launched product. Google for Startups and Neon provided $2,000 each in platform credits. Those credits are not revenue and not customers.

What I learned

A buyer needs to see which rule applies, what decision it changes, and where to check it.

Scope at Sonoma

Assistant airport manager, August 2017–March 2023

I was promoted after two months as airport administrative manager. I set daily priorities across operations, maintenance, security, and contractors. I was airport safety coordinator and the primary TSA contact, including Part 139 and Part 1542.

When the airport manager was away, I led the operation. My direct reports were the operations supervisor, a maintenance worker, a security specialist, and an administrative staff member. The operations supervisor led about 10–12 operations, firefighting, and extra-help staff. That wider count is approximate, and those people were not my direct reports.

I also issued RFPs and RFQs, reviewed contractor performance, and helped prepare the airport’s operating budget. I did not hold the construction budget for the terminal.

Working together

Straight answers

What can you take on?

A renewal backlog: reconcile the file, name the agreements that need a decision, and work with the owners until those decisions are made. A live change: map what is moving, who has to act, and what has to keep running.

Where are you, and when can you start?

I am in Paphos, Cyprus, on Eastern European time, and I am available now. I hold US and French citizenship. I will take remote employment, consulting, and independent contracts with organizations that can engage someone based in Cyprus. In US terms, independent work is often called 1099. Elsewhere it is a consulting contract.

Is this only aviation?

No. The same work shows up in logistics, facilities, procurement, travel, and other services: a change that crosses teams, a supplier who has to perform, and a record someone else can check.

How should we start?

Send the problem, the outcome you want, and the timing. For a project, we can agree the deliverable, who decides, and when you need an update.

If a change has to cross teams, contractors, and a rulebook, I can take that coordination.
